EU ErP, ESPR and EPBD 2026: What They Mean for Track Lighting Buyers
Europes 2025-2026 lighting rules reshape what you can import. A buyers compliance checklist for track lighting entering the EU.
If you sell or specify track lighting into the EU, 2025-2026 is a compliance inflection point. Three regulations — ErP, ESPR and EPBD — now decide what is legal to place on the market.
ErP: the efficiency baseline
(EU) 2019/2020 sets eco-design limits: LED luminous efficacy, standby power <= 0.5 W (from 9 May 2025), flicker SVM <= 0.4 and PstLM <= 1.0, CRI >= 80, and L70 life >= 30,000 h. The (EU) 2019/2015 label is the A-G scale with a QR link to the EPREL database.

ESPR and EPBD raise the bar
ESPR extends requirements from efficiency to the full life cycle — repairability and recyclability. EPBD, fully applied from May 2026, makes connected, controllable lighting an expectation rather than a premium extra.
What to ask your supplier

Do low-voltage 24V/48V products need ErP?
DC-supplied products fed from a separate driver are treated under LVD, but the driver itself falls under ErP — specify an ErP-ready driver.
When is the Digital Product Passport required?
From 2027, requiring transparent life-cycle data — favour suppliers who already track it.
